I lead control and sensing development for ShiftOS, spanning gait detection, terrain-aware behavior, adaptive braking, safety logic, embedded implementation, and validation through motion-capture and product testing.
ShiftOS: Real-Time Control for Moonwalkers Robotic Footwear
ShiftOS is the sensing and control stack behind Moonwalkers robotic footwear. My work focuses on making robotic shoes feel smooth, responsive, and predictable across real users, real floors, and real deployment constraints.
The system combines gait sensing, terrain response, adaptive braking, safety fallback logic, embedded deployment, and motion-capture validation.

Why ShiftOS Matters
This is where my research background turns into product behavior. In a paper, a controller has to work in a defined experiment. In Moonwalkers, the controller has to work every step, for different users, on imperfect surfaces, with embedded constraints, safety expectations, and product feel all happening at once.
The challenge is not just making the shoes move. The challenge is making them feel natural, predictable, and safe across different users, surfaces, and walking styles. Robotic footwear has to read the user's gait, decide how to assist, and control wheel motion in real time — all while staying robust enough for deployment.
I work on the sensing and control behaviors that turn foot motion into smooth robotic assistance: gait timing, terrain response, adaptive braking, runtime safety logic, and embedded deployment.
